A Modified Series Z-Source Inverter Based on Switched Inductors with High Voltage Gain and Reduced Voltage Stress on Capacitors

Authors

Abstract:

In this paper, a series Z-source inverter based on switched inductors cell is proposed for the first time. This inverter is able to increase the voltage gain in comparison to the conventional Z–source inverters in additon to solve the ST (shoot-through) state’s problems. In this inverter, the value of voltage gain is increased by increasing the number of used diodes and inductors in the switched inductors cell. The low value of the capacitors voltage stress is the other advantage of the proposed inverter. The voltage of the capacitors is increased from zero to desired value by increasing the duty cycle of ST state from zero to its desired value. This leads to soft start in the proposed inverter that is impossible in the conventional Z-source inverters. In this paper, in addition to investigate the operating of the proposed inverter in different operating modes, the value of voltage stress of the capacitors, current inductors and the value of voltage gain are also calculated. Moreover, the proposed inverter is compaerd with the conventional Z-source inverters to investigate the advantages and disadvantages of it. Finally, the accuracy performance of the proposed inverter is verified thruogh simulation results in PSCAD/EMTDC software program.

Z-source Inverter with a New Space Vector Pwm Algorithm for High Voltage Gain

This paper presents a methodology to apply a novel space vector pulse width modulation control for three phase Z-source inverter. The space vector modulation for the conventional voltage source inverter is modified so that the additional shoot-through states are inserted within the zero states. So zero voltage time period is diminished for generating a shoot-through time, and active states are ...

Single-Phase Z-source Matrix Converter with High Voltage Gain

Abstract— This paper proposes a new type of converter called Single Phase Z-source Matrix Converter (SPZMC). The SPZMC is an ac-to-ac converter device. Simulated using diode bridge bidirectional switch cell. The simulation is performed in different loads with fixed input and variable output frequency. Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) switching strategy is used to obtain the variable frequency. The ...

Controlling Both the DC Boost and AC Output Voltage of Z-Source Inverter Using Neural Network Controller with Minimization of Voltage Stress Across Devices

This paper presents a method to control both the dc boost and the ac output voltage of Z-source inverter using neural network controllers. The capacitor voltage of Z-source network has been controlled linearly in order to improve the transient response of the dc boost control of the Z-source inverter. The peak value of the line to line ac output voltage is used to control and keep the ac output...

A Transformerless Boost Converters with High Voltage Gain and Reduced Voltage Stresses on the Active Switches

Usually basic dc-dc boost converters are unable to provide high step up voltage gain due to the effect of power switches, rectifier diodes and equivalent series resistance of inductors and capacitors and the voltage stresses on the power switches are high. This paper proposes a simple transformerless dc-dc converters to achieve high step up voltage gain without an extremely high duty ratio. The...
